If you are a Company

Run for Us - as an individual or part of your working team, get sponsorship to take part in an Irish City marathon, (Dublin, Cork, Galway, Belfast), or in the Dublin Women’s Mini-Marathon, (Dublin, Cork, West of Ireland), see www.runinireland.com

Run for Lunch - charge your colleagues €2 a head to fetch their sandwiches at lunch time and donate the money raised to us.

Get fit for Us - Walk, cycle, tour, climb. Get employees either to participate or to sponsor a group in work. Ask your company to match the amount raised. Try to aim for participation from some senior executives and ask company suppliers to support/participate too.

Dress down for the day - organise for each staff member to pay for privilege to come to work in their jeans. Donate the money raised to us.

Bet on Us/Vote for Us - Hold an Office Sweepstake around national events such as the Grand National, Six Nations, World Cup, the X Factor. Donate the money raised to us.

Test your Knowledge for Us - Organise a pub quiz. Most establishments will give offer a room without cost, knowing they will make money at the bar. (For a book of questions, log on to pubquizhelp.com or www.amazon.ie). Donate the money raised to us.

Race for Us - Hold a race night with the help of a Race Night Vendor, (see ‘Entertainment Agencies’ in Golden Pages), who will provide races and screen. Donate the money raised to us.

Have a coffee for Us - Organise a coffee morning in the office canteen, charge each employee €5 for a cuppa, and donate the money raised to us.

Host an Event for Us - It could be a barbecue, a night out bowling, a lunch, or a black-tie ball. Donate the money raised to us.

If you are a School

Walk, Cycle, Swim, Climb, Dance for Us - Get as many classes as you can to participate and agree on a sum to be sponsored per mile walked, length swum, hours danced and so on. Organise some spot prizes for the winners. Donate the money raised to us.

Dress Down for Us - Get the principal’s support for a non-uniform day, get your friends to pay €1 for this opportunity. Donate the money raised to us.

Organise a Day/Evening for Us - Organise a sport day, concert, dance or other school event and charge parents, pupils and friends to attend. Donate the money to us. Ask local retailers for spot prizes in exchange for giving them some positive publicity.

Sizzle for Us - Get your local supermarket to donate sausages and bread and hold a sausage barbecue. Consider an indoor barbecue in winter. Donate the money raised to us.

Make & Sell for Us - With teacher support, organise a sale of work with items made in art & craft class, carpentry and cookery classes. Donate the money raised to us.

Read/Spell/Calculate for Us - Organise sponsorship for reading a number of books in a given period. Organise sponsorship for every word spelt correctly in a spelling test. Organise sponsorship for every sum, algebra calculation or geometry theorem correctly. Donate the money raise to us.

Test Yourselves for Us - Have your class teachers write quiz questions either on a specific class subject or general knowledge. Organise sponsorship pledges for every question you get right. Have classes and class groups compete against each other. Donate the money raised to us.

Raffle for Us - Ask local business and school suppliers to donate prizes in return for publicity, (assure them their names will be printed on the tickets). Sell the tickets for €2 each with a cash prize for the pupil that sells the most.

Babysit for Us - Give your parents, or their friends a night off and donate the money to us.

Pack Bags for Us - Contact a number of local supermarkets and agree an evening (Thursday & Friday) and a Saturday where your class can pack bags, with two per check out. We will provide collection buckets, t-shirts and information stickers. Donate the money raised to us.
