Knitting Bus Project Update from Scoil Mhichl Noafa, Bere Island

Scoil Mhichl Naofa, Bere Island, West Cork is a two teacher school with 26 pupils. Children in Fifth and Sixth class have participated in the Knitting Project,  knitting a warm colourful blanket which is just the thing for these cold evenings. School principal Deirdre Ni Dhonnchadha says taking part in the project was a great experience. “It was fantastic, we had the help from four older people in the community who came in to mentor the children.  Our boys were just as enthusiastic as the girls.  It was great to see them  chatting away, the older people talking about how school today is so different from their days.  I think it is a very worthwhile programme and we were delighted to be involved,” she said.
