We are delighted to be participating in the Knitting Bus project. The children in 5th and 6th class are knitting each Friday afternoon. We have some mothers of past pupils who come in to the school and guide the children. The teacher Michelle Dunlea says during that hour you could hear a pin drop in the room as the pupils are so engrossed in what they are doing. This class group also publish a monthly newsletter which is sent out to each family and below is their article about the knitting as well as some photos of them hard at work. The mothers who give their time so generously are also enjoying the project immensely.
Knitting Bus Article
On Friday the 20th of January 5th and 6th class started knitting. We are making trauma teddies. We will then donate them to the ambulance service for children going to hospital. Mothers of past pupils of this school, Rose, Kitty and Elmarie generously donate their time to help us knit. 6th class already know how to knit, but 5th class didn’t really, but are making great progress. They are learning very fast and are enjoying it. We are following a pattern for the teddy and we must stuff it and sew it together. We are doing this for fun and for the ambulances. The volunteers are a great help and we thank them very much.
